HK-M1000, the Booster for Digital Hospital Construction

Digital technology has been driving a revolution in healthcare. The convergence of digital technologies with health, healthcare, living and society offers real opportunities to improve medical outcomes and enhance efficiency.

In recent years, boosted by the new generation of digital technologies such as the Internet, AI, and big data, medical informatization and the digital hospital have become major trends in the development of the medical and health industry. According to Precedence Research, the global digital health market was valued at USD 270.60 billion in 2021 and is expected to reach over USD 1354.68 billion by 2030, growing at a CAGR 19.2% during the forecast period 2022 to 2030. North America accounts for the dominant share in the global digital health market due to the region’s rising elderly population, high adoption rate of smartphones, and the push to develop apps and digital hospitals to reduce healthcare costs.

digital health market size

As an integral part and the main battleground of the digital health market, the construction of digital hospital is the inexorable trend.

The digital hospital is a concept contributing to facilitating hospital operations and ensuring patient safety by integrating digital medical devices, automatic facility control, and smart information systems.

In order to conform to the trend of digital hospital construction, Hawkmed, as a pioneer in the infusion therapy field, has independently developed an Infusion Monitoring Management System HK-M1000.

So how can HK-M1000 help construct the digital hospital?

Covering all infusion devices, hospital departments, and scenes

Due to the lack of efficient infusion monitoring and management, nurses always face heavy infusion work because of widely distributed hospital beds and complicated infusion conditions.

However, by adopting one HK-M1000 system which can monitor and manage up to 800 infusion devices including infusion pumps, syringe pumps, feeding pumps, etc simultaneously, the monitoring requirements of all infusion devices in every hospital departments can be greatly satisfied. Besides monitoring and managing on one computer, the system also supports master/slave coordinated monitoring mode which means the nurse can check the area he or she is in charge from the slave device specially and quickly. Moreover, the HK-M1000 system can be installed on TV, PC, tablet and HDMI wireless projection screen so that nurses can know patients’ situations anytime anywhere without space limitations and deal with infusion completion and abnormalities in time to ensure the safety of infusion.

Displaying infusion status of all devices and corresponding patients

Under the bed view where basic information about patients is intensively displayed, nurses can quickly understand their overall infusion status and locate the position of the target patient.

While the device view can display the operation status, infusion parameters and medication situation of all infusion devices and there will be visual and voice alarms when the infusion is almost complete or infusion abnormalities happen. The remaining-infusion-time list shown on the right will also preferentially display the information of alarm devices and devices that are about to complete the infusion so that nurses can plan the treatment route according to the priority, optimizing the infusion handling efficiency.

Being able to connect to different hospital systems

The gap between different hospital systems leads to the isolated island of medical device information. And with that comes the low information acquisition efficiency and low overall work efficiency of the hospital. However, HK-M1000 can greatly help solve such issues as it can not only intensively monitor and manage all infusion devices by means of the smart IoT (The Internet of Things) but also can access to HIS/CIS as well as other hospital systems, realizing the interconnection between the infusion monitoring system and the hospital systems and finally promoting the digital construction and management of the hospital itself.

Here is a further explanation on how the HK-M1000 works between the HIS/CIS systems.

Using the HL7 protocol, the HK-M1000 system can match infusion information with the corresponding patient information received from the HIS system automatically and then send such information to CIS or other relevant hospital systems. Thanks to which, the work load reduction of inputting patients’ information on HK-M1000 as well as the possibility of monitoring all infusion devices on the hospital’s own system have both become a reality.

Managing and analyzing all infusion devices

It is always a hard task for a hospital to manage all infusion devices efficiently and analyze the whole infusion process due to a large number of devices and complicated infusion situations.

HK-M1000 can not only store infusion records without upper limitation to ensure the traceability and safety of the whole infusion process but also support binding device ID which enables quick location of each infusion device in use. Moreover, the built-in chart analysis function of the HK-M1000 system can also help analyze the service condition of all infusion pumps including use frequency, infusion mode, and device model proportion to help the hospital better set up overall planning of infusion devices.

Customizing key monitoring area

HK-M1000 system also supports drawing the layout based on the actual hospital floor plan and customizing the key monitoring area based on actual needs. This can also be used as the realistic map of the hospital.
